Chemical pulp plant in Central Europe implementing HISS

2020 has been busy on many fronts and we’ve been having a lot of orders coming in, both big and small. We can now reveal that we’ve received an order on our High impact sootblowing system (HISS)  from a chemical pulping plant in Central Europe. Up until now, we’ve mainly implemented the HISS solution on plants within Sweden. With this order, we now take the technology to other countries in Europe.  The objective for the client is to further improve their environmental impact as a provider of green energy for the local market. The chemical pulping plants play an important role in generating energy for both district heating and for the generation of renewable electricity. Our new client’s chemical mill needed to meet the objectives of their environmental green strategy. With the implementation of the High impact soot system, the chemical pulping plant will make it possible to increase the amount of steam for the paper machines and also increase [...]

Heat Management meeting the ISO 14001 standards

We are proud to inform you that we are now certified according to the ISO14001, the international standard for an effective environmental management system. The main purpose of ISO 14001 The certification is well in line with our efforts in making pulp mills and power- & heating plants more sustainable and environmentally friendly. These are the ISO 14001 requirements ISO 14001:2015 covers the following topics with regards to environmental management systems: Context of the organization Leadership Planning Support Operation Performance evaluation Improvement Top reasons that you should implement ISO 14001 in your organization Having a well-defined Environmental management system is key for having a systematic approach to compliance. These days we all think about our environmental impact and using this system will not only benefit the environment but will also reduce costs and improve efficiency within the organization. Getting ISO 14001 certified – Start with these things If you are already ISO9001 certified it will be fairly easy to [...]

Meet Pontus Linder, Product Manager for HISS

We are delighted to officially introduce Pontus Linder, our new Product Manager for HISS. Pontus will be a key asset for us moving forward with the development and optimization of the high impact soot system. In this interview with Pontus, we go further and dig a bit deeper. We look at industry trends and discussing upcoming projects, as well as the pursuit of effective steam savings and the importance of working with Greentech. Again: Welcome Pontus!  Q: You’ve been a part of the Heat Management team for 8 months now, can you describe what you’ve been up to? Any great projects that you have been introduced to? Pontus: I’ve been supporting the sales department with technical information, been involved in technical details in ongoing projects, and met our subcontractors. We have many upcoming projects, both in Sweden and internationally. Q: How come you ended up at Heat Management? Pontus: When I first heard about the company, I became very interested. It sounded very [...]

How we optimize steam sootblowing systems

High Impact Sootblowing System General Installation Procedure Below describes the measures necessary for the implementation of the High Impact Soot System (HISS), for the optimization of steam soot blower and recovery boiler operation.  Step 1 – Install pneumatic actuator on the steam soot blowers The installation takes approximately 10 – 15 min per blower and can be performed during boiler operation. The actuators can be bypassed with a blocking pin. Step 2 – Install pneumatic control boxes for HISS The actuators are operated with instrument air at ~6 bar and is distributed to the soot blowers, through pneumatic control boxes. Each control box can handle up to 12 soot blowers. Step 3 – Install ACABBM 800M controllers for the actuators The contactors for the soot blowers are replaced with new ones, with direction control. Furthermore, an ACABBM 800M controller is installed. This make up the controls for the HISS-function. Step 4 – Implementation of operator control display The soot blower [...]

Benefits of infrasound as acoustic soot cleaning method

The first installation of an Infrafone Sonic Soot Cleaner with the purpose to keep an industrial boiler clean from soot was carried out in 1978. The boiler was an MgO boiler in a paper mill at Stora Enso in Hyltebruk, Sweden. The success of that installation taught us about the power of infrasound. The experience that we have obtained over the years has taught us how to create value with infrasound. The properties of sound differ substantially depending on the frequency range. Sound can be divided into infrasound, audible sound, and ultrasound. Infrafone harnesses the power of infrasound, which is sound with frequencies below 30 Hz. Infrasound waves have many properties that make them suitable for soot cleaning applications: Infrasound waves have a long wavelength. The acoustic power can reach areas far away from the acoustic source, unlike conventional soot cleaning methods. Infrasound waves are Omni-directional. This means that they spread in all directions with the same intensity, which implies [...]
